Hello everybody
I have a problem in one of my projects.
Almost all the project management works on Revit except one company, on Archicad. In addition to that they are on MAC ...
So I'm looking for a free IFC viewer for MAC to offer them.
Do you have any suggestions ?
At first glance it seems that eveBIM offers it.

Yes Solibri I had tested the problem being that I can only open one IFC at a time.
I cannot have multiple IFCs in the same project.
I am testing BIMcollab, thank you.

Yes, indeed, Solibri does not allow you to open several IFCs, but BIMcollab ZOOM does. And the graphics are more worked on in the BIMcollab.

de rien!

Indeed the graphics are better, the multi IFC option is present. And the viewer itself is not bad at all.
Thank you.

Double post.
On the other hand there is a concern of geo-referencing, no?
Two models with the same point of origin are distinct in BIMcollab.
An adjustment to be made?

Unfortunately, we only had this problem in the case where one of the models was basic badly geo-referenced because there should not be any difference in origin points if the models are correctly adjusted (to be checked by importing the models in the Revit software for example).

Maybe someone else has had this problem before, sorry I couldn't help.

Hi Sofiane,

No answer to bring you because I am against Apple products, too expensive. dsl.

And don't tell me that in a discussion we're still talking about Geo-Referencing of models?

Someone is really going to have to write a book on the subject, uh sorry, why not complete this book:

https://oae.univ-valenciennes.fr/content/UVHC/rkPOH-tjM

by understanding and simplifying it for future BIM Modelers ...

Hi
Is the problem right in BIM Collab, where does the lag show in other software as well?

Ah hello Vincent!
For Geo Referencing, yes indeed we are still talking about it! But that doesn't shock me.
Regarding Apple products, I share your opinion, but if the project management uses Apple, we can do nothing other than accept it. Should have seen the facial expression when we told them about windows partition on their mac ...
Thanks for the document!

Hello Frédéric, yes the problem just comes from BIMcollab, on naviswork, BIMvision and Tekla it works.

Good evening Sofiane

If possible, I would like your files for testing.

Good evening Sofiane

I find you going a bit fast in this statement, especially if Open Bim makes sense

I intervene a little late. Sorry.

Archicad (mac or PC),
1 / menu: File / interoperability / Merge from file
2 / Choose the IFC file
Please note that the menu is grayed out as long as you have a 3D view in the first tab.
So place yourself on a 2D plan, preferably on the layout level.
The layers will be created based on the families imported with an extension

This is not a problem. I regularly check the 3D of my BET Structure (STORM) thanks to the IFCs it sends me, in archicad (on mac, on PC, who cares.)

Conclusion: Archicad IS a viewer (not free, far from it, but if I understood correctly, already paid by the box which works on Mac, right?).

That all the members of a group do not use the same tool is not a problem since the fundamental principle of BIM is on the contrary collaboration and interoperability.

Yes eveBIM developed by CSTB is a powerful French-speaking tool capable of extracting data and compiling several models.
A good IFC goes through the ODA which supports software publishers to export and import qualitative IFCs (Autodesk freshly affiliated - September 2020).
You will notice that the ODA recently made available and free of charge its own software for compilation, reading, data extraction and even collision detection between IFCs.
Obviously the ODA is available on all pro OS and therefore on mac: https://openifcviewer.com/
