Hello,

I would like to have a part designation in the direct properties of the RJ 45s.
As a result, as soon as I affix a label to each RJ, the name of the part will automatically appear on it.

Thank you in advance.

If you don't know dynamo, the general approach in French if not for your problem on the english forum, you will see that you are not the first to have encountered this problem :)

Hello,

I'm assuming (but maybe it isn't) it's on Revit?

If so, there are several ways to do it.
It depends in part on what elements you have in your possession.
By that I mean if you have an Archi model in Revit format and with filled in parts or not.
If you fill in this information yourself manually. Etc ...

Can you detail us a little more the elements in your possession and your need?

So much for me, indeed it's on Revit.

At my disposal, I have a link to an archi model with the specified parts.
I would like to create a shared parameter on my "code_local" data devices.
This setting would automatically fill in depending on the space to which the device belongs. Is it possible?

Hello Clement,

You can only natively retrieve the Part <> Object link if both are in the same model (via a nomenclature by going to parts).
To do what you ask, you have to code, start with Dynamo.
The other alternative is to insert the archi link in your model so that Part <> Object are in your model, it will work but it's bad ...

Hello,

Indeed as Raphaël says, Revit is quite limited with the linked models.

A half solution but to have an automatic update:
- Link the archi model to your working model
- Analyze / Spaces / Place spaces automatically
- Analyze / Name space
- Create a nomenclature of data devices (for your RJ) with the fields "Space: Name" and / or "Space: Number"

At this stage you should have the information of the location of each RJ in the nomenclature.
If you move an RJ, the location updates automatically.

On the other hand it is a half solution in the sense that you cannot recover this information in a label.

If it is imperative, then dynamo is indeed the most suitable solution. But you will have to think about relaunching it regularly to avoid having moved an RJ and still having the name of the previous piece.

Good luck.

Jérôme

Hello !

Thanks a lot for your answers !
Indeed I had succeeded in making a nomenclature with the RJ45s in the parts but I did not succeed in making it appear on the labels ...
However, in dynamo I have not looked into the question too much and I do not know anything about it, any advice?

Hello,

Why make the name of the room appear on the label of the RJ45?
Normally the NAME of the room is already displayed in the center of the room via the Archi plan.
The most used method is that of Jerome Pereira (with creation of Spaces in your model)

I come back to your problem.

uses the method of creating spaces (see above).
Then create shared or project settings for your family (name, number)
With dynamo, retrieve the list of spaces, and then the content of the spaces.
retrieve the name and number of the space and write it in the parameters of the object.

On the dynamo site (forum) you will find examples, do a search with "content space"
Search in English, but activate the translation with google chrome
