Hello Alfred, you are a civil engineer and BIM manager at Schneider Electric, can you tell us about your professional background and what led you to become a BIM Manager ?
Hello Mohamed, thank you for inviting me for this interview. Here is my background in a few words:
I finished my studies in civil engineering in 2004 at the technological and higher studies university (ITESO) On Mexico. Then, from 2005 to 2009, I worked at the agency EIDOS Architecture as Construction Manager. It was at the EIDOS agency where I began to have real contact with design software and interactions between all the players. In 2009, the company RISE trusted me to mount more ambitious real estate transactions. On this occasion, during the construction phase of a 42-apartment project, we planned to implement a collaborative work methodology, between all stakeholders, to reduce construction time. After the construction of this Building and the results obtained, I began to understand the importance of BIM and the role of the BIM MANAGER. So we decided to put in place a definitive BIM methodology for all projects.
A working group of Mediaconstruct as well as the team BIMetric are currently working on the use cases of BIM in a construction project, in this context a survey was launched in order to have the feedbacks of the professionals concerned, we invite you to participate for this occasion, it is a project of public interest, the benefits of which will inevitably be useful for the entire sector.
In order to give you an idea of these use cases, we have produced an extract (for information only) from this survey, here are the 21 uses of the digital model during the life of a work, according to you there are more or less cases?
Construction stakeholders agree on the adoption of BIM which could meet everyone's needs, during the different phases of the building's life, from design to operation, including construction, of course. can also add the renovation and rehabilitation of the existing one, but as the needs are different for these 4 phases the BIM processes will be thereafter, hence the distinction of the 4 major types of BIM: the bim for theexisting, For design, For construction and for the wealth management.
